Texture Smooth and Soft when Cooked

Many dals in the market are polished with oil, water or other substances to make them look shiny. Our arhar dal is only cleaned, not polished, so it keeps its natural surface, taste and nutrients.

Soaking for 20–30 minutes is recommended. It helps the dal cook evenly and faster.

In a pressure cooker, 3–4 whistles with 2.5–3 cups of water per cup of dal. In an open earthen pot over a gentle flame it takes longer, but it helps preserve the dal's natural taste and aroma.

Polished dal gets its shine from coatings of oil or water. Unpolished dal has a natural, matte look, which is a sign that nothing has been added.

It stays fresh for 12 months from the date of packaging under vacuum packed conditions. After opening, keep the pack tightly sealed or transfer it to an airtight container.
